Episode Five: Turning Towards Discomfort

Episode Five Turning Towards Discomfort
We are delighted (and nervous) to release Genuine, Episode Five! We're calling this "Turning Towards Discomfort" because of the experimental roundtable conversation that Carlton hosted between Sarah and Carlton's colleague Noah.

Carlton invited Sarah and Noah to explore what it means to be white...to examine aspects of race, and to be willing to turn towards discomfort in order to see what happens when we do so.

You will hear original music by Jim Infantino and Jon Sousa. Towards the end of the episode, you'll hear some car radio sounds and ocean sounds that Sarah recorded in Maine at Portland Head Light. At the very end of the episode, we'll get to hear Wolf van Lieshout from the Netherlands read the credits, and we'll hear Natanya Bittman define what genuine means to her - make sure to listen long enough to hear that!
Thanks to Nicole Arsenault and Team Podcast for the editorial and mixing work. Thanks to the growing ranks of Patrons of Genuine (we're up to 23!!!) for supporting the development of this podcast!!!

A quick note to you all - Sarah is posting this the day before she is due with her second child, so you will now experience a pause of likely a couple of months before she can continue to finish the next 5 episodes in this first series of Genuine.

Once she is back to work (navigating life with two kiddos), she plans to complete this first series of 10 episodes and will then start working with Carlton to begin working on a second series. Her plan is to start earning enough money with her business, The Presence Point so that she can afford to do a proper PR release for the podcast and get it out to the general public. So you really are first listeners and pioneers. Please share your feedback!

Thanks again for your support!!! And patience...

Episode Four: Unpacking Creative Process

Episode Four Unpacking Creative Process
We are so happy to release Genuine, Episode Four! We're calling this "Unpacking Creative Process" because of the juicy conversation we had with James Thorpe about what it means to engage in creative process. James was also kind enough to let us share some of his original music, so enjoy that too!

You will hear sounds of Boulder, Colorado recorded by David Lipton as well as original music by Jim Infantino and Jon Sousa. At the end of the episode, we'll get to hear Ali Warner from London, England read the credits, and we'll hear David Doerr, Craig Mullins and Alyssa Marino define what genuine means to them - make sure to listen long enough to hear that!

Genuine, the Podcast: Preview Episode!

Genuine the Podcast Preview Episode

Welcome, to Genuine.

I am thrilled to release this preview episode of Genuine, a fresh new podcast produced by The Presence Point. I’m so happy you found us here at the beginning! The aim of this podcast is to find, harvest and curate stories from around the world that showcase what it means to live a genuine human life, no matter the challenges or circumstances.

My deepest conviction is that today’s society needs us to show up as exactly who we are - that in order for society to flourish and blossom in a way that benefits all levels of society and the planet, we must be genuine. To that end, I am always looking to magnetize moments of genuine presence, to highlight the power of authentic connection, and creating a podcast has been a really satisfying way to this. Besides, let’s face it, this is the real joy of being human!

What you are about to hear in this preview podcast episode is a teaser including many of the voices and sounds from the full episodes to come. In speaking with friends - and friends of friends - from my travels around the world, I’ve learned what inspires them, what sparks them, as well as what challenges and journeys they’ve experienced along the way. I want to know how they got from where they were raised to the place from which they now live a life based on radical inspiration. The people I chose to interview for this podcast are extraordinary in that they are living ordinary lives, but doing so with insight and genuine expression. In order to create a rich listening environment for you, my audience, I went with my own inspiration as to who in the world would be sparkling examples of living genuinely. In my life, these people are gems, and I’m deeply excited to share them with you now.

Producing this first season of Genuine has been an incredible learning experience. Our sound quality might be a bit rough at times but hopefully you’ll find enough value in the rich content to get past a few rough vocals. Despite building this from scratch, like a patchwork quilt, we’re striving to bring forth a genuine experience for you.

Again, we’re so delighted that you’ve found us right here at the beginning, so enough talking, let’s dive on in!

Stability in Chaos

Stability in Chaos

I don't know about you, but it's a turbulent time. I find it affecting me on every level. Now seemed like a good time to offer a little encouragement.

Many of you know that I am hard at work on releasing my new podcast: Genuine. As part of that international interview project, I'm inspired to offer these shorter reflections for listeners.

I will re-release this in January on all your podcast listening sites when the podcast goes live. But for now, please listen and share, and let me know what you think.

Genuine - the podcast

Genuine - the podcast

It is time to shift society's dialogue away from the negative and towards inspiration.

It is time to Spark and Ignite.

By taking off our masks, being who we are, embodying our experience and leading from a place of authenticity, we can change the world. Our willingness to be who we are is the spark that ignites that genuineness in others.

Genuine, the podcast aims to do just that by harvesting stories from around the world about what sparks and inspires people.

The aim of this podcast is to harvest, nurture and curate stories from around the world that showcase what it means to be genuine. We do not set out to concretely define the word genuine, but rather reveal the incredible diversity of what genuine means to people from all walks of life, all around the globe.

As the founder and producer of this podcast, I, Sarah Lipton, am deeply inspired that now is the time to nurture this shift in society's dialogue. I know from my own experience that when one is inspired, it is very hard not to be genuine. I also know that one person's spark is another person's ignition. Stories that spark have the potential to ignite possibility for the ones that listen.

Story is the oldest, most powerful medium of communication. I am thrilled, honored and humbled to step my toe into the stream of inspiring stories flowing around the world. I am committed to bringing you stories from people you've never heard of whose stories could shift how you think about the world. I am inspired to share stories from people you have heard of, though that may be a little later down the line.

If you are longing to be part of shifting society's dialogue, please join me.

The thread of the conversations hosted on Genuine will pivot around the journey of inspiration. What sparks one of us will ripple out and spark others. If you have a story to share, please tell us.
